Sam Morgan is founder and program director at Tuopu. He's got more than 20 years of teaching experience. He is a UK QTS and TEFL certified teacher, a CPD keynote speaker and an examiner with recognition from JCQ.

Rob Ford is an independent consultant, coaching expert, NPQ facilitator, qualifications tutor and qualified ICF associate executive coach with more than 30 years of teaching experience.

Topics covered during the webinar

As a first speaker, Sam introduced Tuopu to participants and emphasized its important role in the process of obtaining UK qualifications. Tuopu provides teachers and educators in China with trainings, mentoring and support.

Sam also mentioned how Tuopu supports local and foreign teachers in China in their journey and how to make sure that all the teachers have access to right programs and qualifications so they can become leaders in education.

In the second part of the webinar Rob talked about the guidance for school leaders: Teacher's Standards. Rob spoke about values and behavior that all teachers should demonstrate.

Let's briefly sum up some of the reasons why having QTS is important for teachers' career:

Legal Requirement
In many countries, having QTS is a legal requirement to work as a qualified teacher.

Professional Recognition

QTS signifies that a teacher has completed the necessary training and has met the standards set by educational authorities.

Career Opportunities
Without QTS teachers may not be eligible for certain roles or advancement opportunities within the education system.

Quality Assurance

QTS ensures that teachers possess necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to effectively educate students.

Professional Development

The process of obtaining QTS involves continuous professional development and reflection. This helps teachers to stay up to date on educational practices and adapt to changing approaches.

Parents, Students, School confidence

All parties involved have confidence in teachers with QTS, knowing they have undergone rigorous training and have been qualified by educational authorities.

Transferability

QTS can be transferable between schools, regions or countries that recognise the accreditation.

Q&A Session

In the end we had a Q&A session where participants could engage with speakers and ask any questions related to QTS and Diploma. A frequently asked question was, whether teachers must have a degree in education if they want to obtain one of the qualifications:

"In Tuopu we help teachers of all levels to obtain desired qualifications. We offer a variety of qualifications and diplomas, for both teachers with and without degree in education. We support, mentor and train teachers to make sure they successfully complete the programs and get fully qualified."
